Alas! News!
Well it is certainly Christmas time. It wouldn't be Christmas if I didn't have to go to three different grocery stores to find all I needed. More importantly it wouldn't be Christmas without a surprise gift...a phone call from the agency.
Wheeling through my second grocery store I realized that I had missed a call on my cell phone (not a surprise-I never hear it). Emily? Who is Emily? Listening to my message I realized it was the agency. Panic sets in. The message appropriately starts with "everything is going fine". Sigh of relief. The call was to see if we can do a conference call with Katie to get a few doctor updates. Yes of course we can.
To sum it up we got to talk to her for 45 mintues covering tons of topics. Doctor's visits, pets, family, shopping. You name it we seemed to cover it. Throughout the conversation she kept asking if we were going to come for the birth. About halfway through she said. I want you to be in the room with me if you want too. It finally occurred to me why she was asking so often if we were going to be there. I was having trouble coming up with different ways to say "yes, we are". With bells on, definately, of course, we are a phone call away, we will come early so we are there.
The doctor thinks the baby will be early so this presents a challenge to this request. She is going to call us after every appointment from now on so we will be able to judge when we should go. She talked about school and how she carries our profile around in her backpack and when people ask if she knows the adoptive parents she says "Yes, I do. Here they are". She even did a school project on adoption and passed us around for the class to see. I wonder if we got an A? She and her friends talk about us all the time. Sweet. Her little sister talks to the baby and says "Adam and Jessica are going to take you to Disney World". Note to self: get tickets now.
Getting a phone call was a great surprise. I am getting really excited now!!!
